San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward metro lag behind Cincinnati-Middletown in 2019

The San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward metro area exported $28 billion in 2019, less than exports from Cincinnati-Middletown in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward metro area consists of five counties.

The Cincinnati-Middletown metro area comprises 10 counties exporting $28.8 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
